Greenlee has another nightmare and tries to cover how truly upset she is in front of Ryan. Emma tells Ryan she likes having Greenlee around. Ryan and Greenlee spend a romantic New Year's Eve together at the penthouse. Greenlee is caught off guard by Ryan's sudden marriage proposal. She tells him she can't accept. Bianca and Reese decide to have a small commitment ceremony at the casino as soon as it reopens. While Bianca is detained at home tending to Gaby, Reese and Zach ring in the New Year together. Zach kisses Reese on the cheek, but the moment is electric between them. Bianca is surprised when she opens her door to Simon, Reese's ex-fiance. Krystal wakes up in David's bed feeling guilty about what she's done. Joe summons Krystal to the hospital, where she suffers an anxiety attack when he breaks the news that Tad has been reported missing in the Congo. JR and Jake notice Krystal's growing connection to David. David dedicates the new wing at the hospital in Babe's memory. When Jake publicly criticizes David at the ceremony, David retaliates by removing Jake from the hospital staff. Amanda finds JR fighting the urge to drink. Brot thanks Zach for getting the charges against him dropped. Brot encourages Taylor to try walking. When she does and falls into his arms, he pulls away from her.

Still thinking she's Emma, a delusional and dangerous Annie confronts Ryan and Greenlee at the penthouse. Opal arrives with Emma, who flies into Annie's arms which only further confuses her. Greenlee gets Emma and Opal out, and Opal calls 911. Ryan is knocked unconscious as he tries to subdue Annie. Meanwhile, Aidan narrowly avoids being discovered by Jesse at Oak Haven. Dr. Sinclair grows more suspicious of Aidan, who takes his crazy act a little too far and is sedated. Greenlee taunts Annie to give Ryan the chance to gather his wits and restrain her. Annie is taken back to Oak Haven after Jesse arrests her. Greenlee is certain Annie will never stop coming after her until she is dead. David continues to draw Krystal further in by miraculously having all the fire damage at the house repaired overnight. Colby is dismayed by Krystal's defense of David and tells Adam and JR about it. Krystal arranges for Winifred to watch Kathy and Jenny in order to go to David's. Krystal throws herself into David's arms, telling him he's the only thing she needs. Adam realizes that JR fell off the wagon and blames Amanda. A guilt-ridden Amanda collects her money from David. Claiming he'd be better off without her, Amanda tells JR she can't see him anymore. Colby shoots Pete down when he asks her out on date for New Year's Eve.

Ryan wears down Greenlee's resistance as he implores her to give them another chance at happiness and let go of the guilt she feels over her role in Ryan and Annie's break up. Greenlee agrees, and has sex with Ryan. Greenlee has a nightmare after making love with Ryan: She's in a tub, in her wedding dress, under the water. She wakes up, scared by what it meant. Aidan realizes that while she recognizes him and no longer thinks he's her father, she still thinks she's Emma and has anger towards Greenlee. After a struggle with Dr. Sinclair, Annie escapes, which Aidan (locked in his room), witnesses. Annie breaks into the penthouse and goes to sleep in Emma's bed. David rescues Krystal from the fire. Krystal allows David to comfort her. David gives Krystal a christmas gift: A locket with Babe's picture in it. Krystal is touched. Amanda feels guilty for giving JR liquor. JR gets drunk, tries to hit on Amanda, and then cries about Babe. David is pleased when Amanda calls to tell him that she succeeded in getting JR to drink.

Ryan and Greenlee give in to their desire and make love but their bliss is interrupted when Ryan receives a call from Oak Haven alerting him to the fact that Annie suffered an accidental overdose (she found some of the medication that Aidan, who is their undercover, has not been taking). After Ryan leaves to go to the clinic, Greenlee watches a Christmas video of Ryan, Annie and Emma in happier times and feels like a home wrecker. Ryan is shattered to return home only to find that Greenlee has left. She left a note that said "I love you, but this never happened." Annie wakes from her overdose and seems to be her old self again when she recognizes Aidan. Kendall's spirit watches over Zach and their family. Bianca gives Reese an engagement ring and their love for one another is evident. JR is grateful for Amanda's help with Little A. JR panics when he realizes he lost Babe's "magic" shell. Amanda finds the shell but hides it from JR. A guilt-ridden Amanda manipulates JR into taking a drink. Krystal lashes out at David when she realizes that he's been drugging her. Krystal goes into a tirade and accidentally knocks over a candle which sets the curtains on fire after David walks out.

A jailed Brot rejects Taylor's offer of help and seems to have abandoned his fighting spirit. Meanwhile, Greenlee runs into Jake, who's grumpy after having been forced to play Santa for the kids at the hospital and they commiserate over the miserable state of their lives. Greenlee urges Jake to reach out to Taylor and is hit with an idea of her own. Greenlee takes Jake's Santa suit and drops in on Ryan and Emma. Ryan is impressed by Greenlee's ability to cheer up Emma. Greenlee and Ryan can't resist what they feel and end up in each other's arms. Greenlee confesses her love to Ryan as they kiss. Upon Jake's advice, Taylor turns to Zach for help with Brot, who's released from jail after Zach pulls some strings. Brot is uncomfortable when Taylor embraces him and quickly leaves.

All of Pine Valley pays tribute to Myrtle and the love they felt for her. Zach, Opal, Erica and Bianca all receive gifts from Myrtle that hold special significance to each of them: Bianca receives a carousel for Gabrielle just like the one Myrtle gave Miranda; Opal gets Myrtle's crystal ball from her carny days; Zach receives a photo album that contains a brass ring, a remembrance that Myrtle always told Zach to "grab the brass ring" and go after happiness; Erica receives a clean version of the dress she wore when lashing out at Myrtle (at the time Erica was on drugs), who was only trying to clean it up. Erica and Bianca marvel at how amazing Myrtle was and how much she supported and loved them. Angie, Jesse, Greenlee, Ryan and Amanda, along with Kelly Tyler, share their memories of Myrtle after encountering each other outside the boarding house. Zach ensures that Myrtle's memory will live on by dedicating the "Fargate Carnival Room" in her honor at the casino.

Bianca tells Erica that Reese used to be engaged to a man. After observing a close moment between Zach and Reese, Erica warns Reese that she'll have to answer to her if she hurts Bianca in any way. An upset Bianca demands to know if Zach and Reese are hiding something from her. Reese and Zach admit to Bianca that Kendall is dying. Erica calls Zach with devastating news about Myrtle: She's dead. Taylor does her best to cover for Brot while being questioned by the MP, but must admit she did see him. Although planning on going on the run, Frankie tells Brot to say goodbye to Taylor. Brot does so, and Taylor challenges him to stay. Brot decides to turn himself in. Erica tells Randi she won't be the face of Fusion because there's online porn of her. Randi realizes her pimp used to tape her with clients. Frankie is more troubled by Randi's porn past than he lets on. David tells Jake and Angie he is the new Chief of Staff. He tells Jake he's taking him off of all surgeries. Adam plays Krystal and makes her suspicious of David. After drinking the eggnog David laced with drugs, Krystal believes he is manipulating her, so she takes off and crashes her car. David tells Amanda he wants JR off the wagon by Christmas.

Annie has a meltdown while insisting to Ryan that her father lives down the hall at Oak Haven. Ryan is concerned by the deterioration of Annie's mental state. Aidan sneaks into Annie's room and tells her that she can only trust him (Aidan). Someone is secretly recording Annie with a video camera. Annie's doctor, Dr. Sinclair, tells Ryan that Annie's condition is his fault. Ryan thinks Kendall could be waking up when she has a spasm while he's sitting with her. David insists to Zach that Kendall suffered an involuntary spasm and that there is no change in her condition. Zach, angry over the false hope, lashes out at Ryan. Bianca and Jack are doubtful that Ryan and Greenlee can stay away from each other as the two long to be together. A military police officer shows up at the hospital to arrest Brot for impersonating a dead solider (which is how Brot allowed everyone to think he was alive). Jake tries to lie to deflect the guy, but David steps in and tells him Brot was there. Brot and Frankie help Taylor get set up with a new apartment. Brot tells Taylor he's not sure they can go back to what they had before. Jake warns Brot and Taylor that a military police officer had been asking questions about Brot and knows he impersonated a dead soldier. Jake tells Brot to take off just as the officer arrives at Taylor's door. David threatens to ruin Jake's career and the hospital's reputation (for Jake lying to the police officer) unless Joe resigns as Chief of Staff and hands the position over to him. Reese tries to ease Bianca's insecurities when Bianca questions her about her past relationships with men. Bianca admits her first love left her for a man.

Adam's dismayed to find that Erica has set up a temporary Fusion office at the mansion. David arrives to examine Erica and reminds her that she owes him a favor: He wants her help in getting Little Adam. Erica refuses, but David reminds her that Kendall's life is, literally, in his hands. Erica convinces Adam that no harm will come from allowing David to spend a few minutes with Little A. JR hits the roof when he sees Little A with David. Greenlee comes to Ryan's rescue when Emma needs angel wings for her dance recital. Aidan sneaks into Annie's room at Oak Haven and barely manages to make his exit before being found out. Annie physically attacks Ryan when he stops by Oak Haven to leave a photo of Emma for her. Greenlee discovers pornographic pictures of Randi on a website and tells Erica, who realizes Randi can no longer be the face of Fusion. Frankie and Randi are mortified when Angie walks in on them in the throes as they are half-naked and about to have sex. Krystal lets herself into David's and is surprised when Amanda enters. David admits to Krystal that he turned to Amanda to ease his pain about Babe but claims there's no longer anything going on between them. David pulls Krystal into a kiss.

Taylor finally manages to get Brot to open up to her about being wounded. Brot recounts the horrifically painful experiences he suffered through but admits to Taylor that it was her love for him that kept him alive. Brot pulls away when Taylor reaches out to touch him. Reese confronts Bianca for going behind her back and contacting her parents. Unable to let the matter go, Bianca drops in on Reese's father, who tells her the story of how Reese became estranged from him and her mother. Bianca is stunned to learn that Reese had been engaged to a man. Bianca questions Reese about her engagement. Reese claims to Bianca that she didn't feel alive until the day she met her. Despite Bianca's anger, she and Reese make up. Amanda subtly pushes JR to drink but he resists the temptation to do so, despite coming very close. After confiding in Natalia, Randi puts her insecurities aside and makes love with Frankie for the first time. Ryan and Greenlee long for each other. Greenlee and Jake commiserate over being alone. A drunken Jake urges Ryan to go to Greenlee. Ryan sees Greenlee at ConFusion but walks away before she sees him.

JR vehemently warns Krystal to steer clear of David. Krystal tells JR she thinks David has changed as she defends herself for spending time with him. JR warns her that if she doesn't tell Tad she's spending time with David, JR will. Angie, Natalia and Jesse are in awe of the miracle of Rebecca coming out of her coma. Rebecca decides to fight the cancer with all her strength. Angie wants her to stay in Pine Valley to fight it. Zach is devastated when he's mistakenly led to believe that Kendall woke up (the nurse mistook Rebecca waking up for Kendall). Zach demands that David perform a miracle for Kendall and pleads with his wife to come back to him. Reese has a disastrous visit from her father, who refuses to accept Bianca as part of his daughter's life. Reese confronts Bianca about contacting her parents. Aidan is up to something while pretending to be a patient at Oak Haven. In order to get in Annie's good graces, he pretends to be her father. Taylor and Jake have an awkward encounter. At ConFusion, JR punches Jake when he insults Amanda. Randi has a photo shoot.

David gives Krystal more spiked milk. David's emotions get the better of him while spending time with Kathy and Krystal and he makes a hasty exit. Krystal, still feeling the effects of the drugged milk, drops by Wildwind to check on David and ends up pulling him into a kiss after David opens up about losing everyone he loves. David drives Krystal back home where they come face to face with JR. Natalia comes to grips with the fact that Rebecca will be taken off life support. Natalia, Jesse, Angie and Frankie say their goodbyes to Rebecca, who miraculously comes back to life after Angie takes her off life support. Ryan has an emotional farewell with Annie after leaving her at Oak Haven. Annie thinks she's a small child. Annie gets an unexpected visitor at Oak Haven: Aidan. Zach and Reese continue to keep their secret from Bianca, who is getting more suspicious.

David tricks Tad into believing that Jeff and Jamie are missing in the Congo so that he'll head there to look for them. Krystal reluctantly accepts the fact that Tad needs to leave to track down his son and brother. After suffering an anxiety attack, Krystal calls David, who is up to his old tricks when he gives her warm milk that he secretly drugged. David warns Angie that she'll have to face the ethics committee for resuscitating Rebecca after she signed the DNR form. Natalia accuses Angie of wanting Rebecca dead when Angie informs her that Rebecca will have to be taken off the respirator. Joe warns Angie she has 24 hours to solve the Rebecca problem. Randi opens up to Frankie about her mother's painful death from cancer. Zach apologizes to Reese for burdening her with keeping his secret about Kendall's imminent death from Bianca. Bianca suspects that Reese is lying to her about something. Aidan tells Greenlee that he's going to accept a job in Washington, D.C. Ryan learns Annie is being transferred to Oak Haven and is unsettled by her rapid deterioration when she acts like a little girl. Emma approaches Ryan and Annie. Annie doesn't seem to recognize her.

Taylor challenges Brot to tell her he doesn't love her but he walks away unable to do so. Brot and Jake get stuck in the elevator together and Jake tries to convince him to stay in town and work things out with Taylor. Jake gets through to Brot, who returns to Taylor's room willing to see where their relationship might lead. Jake realizes he has to let go of the woman he loves. Zach and Reese seek refuge in a cabin during a snowstorm while out in the woods searching for a Christmas tree. Reese is awed by Zach's love for Kendall. Zach admits he's got to face the fact that Kendall will die soon. Angie realizes just how much she missed out on with Jesse while listening to Natalia and Rebecca's stories of past Christmases. Angie is disappointed that Cassandra won't be coming home for Christmas after all. Jesse and Natalia beseech Angie to resuscitate Rebecca after she collapses even though she signed a DNR form. Krystal and Bianca end up stranded at Wildwind with David. Bianca drinks the drugged milk David prepared for Krystal and soon falls asleep. David continues to manipulate Krystal by pretending he's the only one that can understand her.

Jesse stops a crazed Annie from strangling Aidan. Annie fantasizes about Greenlee being dead. Aidan offers to take a polygraph test to put an end to Jesse's suspicions about his being involved in Emma's kidnapping (he swears he only palyed along to save emma) and passes it with flying colors. Ryan and Greenlee resist the urge to act on their feelings as they help Emma with Christmas decorations. Greenlee makes a hasty exit before she and Ryan give into their desire. Jack tells Ryan that Greenlee will always love him. Jake and Greenlee bond as they lament their bad luck with relationships. Aidan finds it ironic that Greenlee and Ryan aren't together. Brot is admitted to the hospital after he passes out from an infection. A heartbroken Jake eavesdrops as Taylor talks to Brot about the love they shared. Brot still tries to push Taylor away. Taylor finds the engagement ring Brot claims he never bought. David comforts a drugged Krystal and makes her question her marriage to Tad. David's pleased with the progress he's making with Krystal. Tad finds Krystal at the cemetery but she doesn't tell him about having been at David's.

Annie cracks during her sanity hearing, accusing Greenlee of being the devil. Ryan and Greenlee are wracked with guilt over Annie's situation. Annie attacks Aidan when he bribes his way into her room. She starts strangling him! Ryan and Greenlee struggle not to act on their feelings. Jack urges Greenlee to be Ryan's friend. Greenlee brings Ryan a Christmas tree. JR appreciates how great Amanda is with Little A when the boy misses Babe. Amanda is conflicted about what she's doing to JR. Adam warns JR not to trust Amanda. Krystal can't stand the idea of celebrating Christmas without Babe and pushes Tad away when he tries to comfort her. Krystal encounters David, who takes her back to Wildwind with him. David drugs Krystal's warm milk and later lies to Angie, saying Krystal isn't with him. Erica declines Jack's offer to stay in his guest room and decides to accept Adam's invitation to move back into the mansion.

Brot pushes Taylor away, claiming their time together in Iraq was just a fling for him. Taylor refuses to believe him, but Brot (who we see cares for her) is relentless in pushing her away. Meanwhile, Jake tells Frankie he thinks Brot should stick around and resolve things with Taylor. Jake later finds Taylor crying, and she explains her confusion about Brot. Jake thinks Taylor can help Brot. We see Brot alone, holding a ring he once bought for Taylor. Erica handles Fusion business from her hospital bed and insists on being taken to see Kendall. Greenlee and Erica form a tentative truce, especially after Erica thanks Greenlee for being a friend to Kendall. Ryan and Greenlee both feel guilty that their love for one another has hurt so many people, but Ryan thinks they can be together. Greenlee doesn't. She forces herself to walk away from Ryan. David delivers devastating news about Kendall to Zach: Kendall's heart is so damaged, so only has a few months left to live. Zach decides to keep this from Erica and Bianca, who he wants to remain hopeful. However, he does tell Reese, and asks her to keep it secret. Reese agrees. Randi is on cloud nine when Erica loves her modeling shots for the Fusion campaign. Randi credits Frankie for changing her life. The two get romantic.

Taylor involuntarily gasps when she sees Brot's scarred face for the first time and immediately regrets her reaction. Frankie and Jake give Taylor their take on the situation, saying that Brot feels as though he's dead on the inside. Frankie urges Brot to give Taylor a chance. Taylor looks into Brot's eyes when he shows up at her hospital room and feels that he's still the man she has always known. Ryan blames himself for Annie's breakdown and tells Greenlee he's going to make helping Annie get better his top priority. Aidan tries to get Annie to admit she's faking her insanity. Ryan and Jesse grow suspicious of Aidan when they catch him in Annie's room. Kendall is moved back to the hospital in Pine Valley and is surrounded by loved ones, who pray she'll wake up. Greenlee pours her heart out at Kendall's bedside, lamenting the fact she doesn't think she and Ryan will ever be together. Reese tries to distract Zach by insisting they all decorate the house for Christmas. However, her attempts at levity only upset him. Angie interrupts David and Krystal kissing. Krystal promises Angie that she's not going to pursue anything with David. Angie warns David not to prey on Krystal.

Jake goes to confront Brot after Frankie reveals he's alive. Jake challenges Brot to be man enough to reveal himself to Taylor, saying it's what she needs. Meanwhile, Frankie admits to a disbelieving Taylor that Brot is alive. Taylor arrives in the middle of Jake and Brot's argument but only sees Brot from behind. Bianca defends Erica's position at Fusion but she and Greenlee manage to reach a compromise of sorts: They'll let Amanda run the office and she'll report to both of them. Ryan's suspicions grow when he finds Aidan standing outside Annie's room in the psychiatric ward at the hospital. Annie, suffering from a complete break with reality, points the finger at Richie when Ryan asks her if anyone helped her pull off Emma's kidnapping. After Ryan leaves, Aidan enters Annie's room with a question of his own: Is she faking her insanity? Emma finds a newspaper headline about Annie stabbing Erica, and Greenlee tries to explain it. Seeing Greenlee with his daughter only endears Greenlee to Ryan more. Krystal confides to Angie that David is haunting her dreams. David approaches Krystal, claiming he's the only one who can help her. Angie returns to see Krystal and David locked in a kiss. Zach receives a gift from Kendall that she sent before the tornado. Zach's grief over Kendall turns to anger as he lashes out at Reese. Reese tells Bianca that Kendall's doctors don't think she will wake up. Zach later informs Bianca and Reese that he's having Kendall moved back to Pine Valley.

A delusional Annie thinks she's at her and Ryan's wedding as she insists he recite his vows and marry her. Ryan manages to grab the bloody knife away from Annie, who's arrested. Ryan feels guilty for the role he played in Annie's breakdown. Annie is sedated. Zach tells Ryan that he knew Annie killed Richie, and kept quiet in exchange for Annie giving up custody of Emma. Ryan tells Zach that his silence meant Annie didn't go to jail, which ended up in Erica getting stabbed, Di dying and Emma nearly being killed. Ryan wants nothing to do with Zach. Jake jumps into action and calls for an ambulance after finding Erica lying in a pool of blood. Jake successfully operates on Erica. Frankie threatens to tell Taylor that Brot is alive and in town if Brot doesn't step forward and do it himself. Rebecca is brutally honest with Angie over her jealousy of Angie, but the two women bond over the fact that Angie and Jesse will be looking out for Natalia once Rebecca is gone. JR admits to Amanda that he wants a drink. David tells Amanda that JR will crack before Christmas.
