David arrives as Tad and Liza are trying to get answers out of Gayle, who reveals nothing. After facing off with David, Tad's more determined than ever to find out what he's really up to. Greenlee wakes up again and asks for Ryan. David shocks Greenlee when he reveals she's been asleep for over a year and tells her Ryan believes she's dead. Opal has a bad premonition concerning Emma. Ryan's blood boils when he's served with a court order demanding he take Emma over to Adam's so that she can be present when Adam and Annie renew their wedding vows. Colby plots against Adam and Annie. Erica, Opal, and Ryan all arrive at Adam and Annie's vow renewal as a helicopter lands on the front lawn. Adam's shocked to see who is in it - Hayley!

Liza warns Ryan he could very well lose custody of Emma altogether if he goes up against Annie in court. Ryan plays right into Adam and Annie's hands when they successfully goad him into fighting over Emma in court instead of agreeing to a joint custody arrangement. Adam and Annie have no doubt they'll triumph over Ryan since they have the judge in their pocket. David catches Tad snooping around up in Gloucester and later whisks Greenlee off to a secluded hospital while Tad is arrested for breaking and entering. Greenlee's only thoughts are of Ryan when she finally regains consciousness. David worries that when Greenlee wakes up, she won't be able to handle everything that's changed in her absence. Zach suggests to Kendall that they pack up and take off with the boys for a while to give them a chance to regroup and heal as a family. Erica's saddened to see Kendall leave but realizes it's what Kendall and her family need to do. Ryan, now realizing he's going to be facing a nasty custody battle with Annie, graciously gives Kendall his blessing to take Spike along with her for however long she and Zach are gone. Erica and Kendall share a heartfelt farewell. Zach and Kendall leave.

David instructs Nurse Gayle to take Greenlee off the drugs that have been keeping her in a coma as he feels she's getting strong enough to survive without them. David recounts to Gayle how he came upon Greenlee after the accident and vowed to save her, something he couldn't do for either Babe or Leo. Although still unconscious, Greenlee dreams of Ryan. Tad heads to Gloucester to find out what David's up to. Kendall and Zach are thrilled to be back home with their boys. Erica and Kendall share an emotional reunion. Zach and Kendall have sex. Ryan does a slow burn when Annie drops by and asserts she has the right to see Emma anytime she wants. Erica cautions Ryan not to compromise with Annie when she brings up the subject of joint custody. Jake tries to talk Joe and Ruth out of moving to Florida for retirement, but the couple remains undeterred.

Jake's angered when Amanda defends David, claiming people should be easy on him because it's his last Christmas. Nurse Gayle contacts David asking him to come to Gloucester immediately as there's been a change in his patient's condition. Tad and Jake's curiosities are piqued when Amanda tells them she heard David making plans to go to Gloucester. We see that the patient in question is Greenlee, very much alive. Thinking he's about to watch a Christmas DVD, Ryan's surprised when Greenlee's final message to him begins to play instead. On the DVD, Greenlee tells Ryan to move on with his life which prompts him to pay Erica a surprise visit. He tells Erica he really wants to commit and move forward with their relationship. Kendall and Zach both have the same dream about Father Clarence and awaken to realize that things will be fine between them. Zach and Kendall make it home in time for Christmas. Kendall is reunited with Erica and her sons.

As they try to make their way home, Zach and Kendall's plane is forced to land at the nearest airport due to the storm. Kendall gives up the rental car she and Zach were going to use to drive the rest of the way so that she can make a little boy's Christmas wish come true (he and his mom need the car so the boy can be reunited with his mother). Taking their chances on a car that's ill equipped for the weather, Zach and Kendall become stranded in the middle of nowhere. Erica and Ryan long for each other, while Erica is depressed to learn that Kendall may not be home for Christmas. James warns Jesse he'll destroy him if he pursues the case against him. Meanwhile, Angie encourages Madison to end the abuse and find the strength and courage to testify against James. Madison confronts James with an ultimatum: Leave the Hubbard family alone or she'll destroy James. Liza reels from the news that D.A. Willis was killed in a car crash and guiltily wonders to Tad if he committed suicide because of the photos she confronted him with. Liza gets a call from the mayor asking her to be the new D.A. Opal questions Tad whether he's interested in Liza.

Everyone has various reactions to David's announcement that he only has six months to live. JR's affected when he sees Marissa's reaction to the news that David is apparently dying. Marissa is hurt that David didn't tell her personally. David senses the pain he's caused Marissa and reaches out to her. He also reveals that he knows JR has cancer again. David hands out surprising "gifts" to his guests, many of whom aren't buying into his mea culpa. Liza learns her "gift" is an incriminating photo of the D.A. sleeping with a judge. She realizes she can use this to become the new District Attorney. David continues to manipulate Amanda, who sleeps with Jake. Amanda feels sad that David's going to be celebrating his last Christmas, indicating David's sympathy ploy is clearly working. Zach regains consciousness only to find himself being held prisoner by Aidan. Aidan continues to spiral out of control as he insists he'll succeed in getting Kendall to fall in love with him. Zach gets the jump on Aidan and plans on shooting him, but Kendall stops him. Kendall and Zach are reunited.

Zach heads to Los Angeles on a mission to rescue Kendall but Aidan has already moved her to an abandoned warehouse. Kendall tries to convince Kat to help her escape from Aidan as she voices her undying love for Zach. Zach contacts Erica, promising he'll bring Kendall home. Aidan knocks Zach out after Kat lures him to the warehouse. All of Pine Valley's elite receive anonymous invitations to a party, which everyone soon discovers is being hosted by David. Amanda jumps to David's defense as he tries to apologize to everyone for his misdeeds. Annie hopes she'll be accepted by the Chandlers, while Adam tells JR he hopes he'll understand his decision to let Annie back into his life.

A bound and gagged Kendall manages to place a call to Zach but is unable to say anything. Aidan snatches the phone as Kendall tries calling Ryan, who asks Jesse to try and trace the call when he gets a feeling that something isn't quite right. Kendall's horrified to realize how unhinged Aidan has become. Erica tries to convince Zach that Kendall might be in trouble. Adam and Annie prove they're made for each other as he spins a tale in the courtroom and effectively gets her off the hook . Scott is unsettled by Adam and Annie's deception. Madison reveals her sordid history of abuse to Jesse and explains why she killed North when she found him in the hotel room - he threatened to send her back to her abusive father. Jesse plans on issuing an arrest warrant for James.

Angie's moved by the depth of Erica's concern for Madison and begins to have a change of heart herself. Randi tells James that she got a room for Madison at the Pine Cone. Feeling she's made a mistake, Randi confesses to Frankie she told James where to find Madison. Frankie and Brot burst into Madison's room just as James is strong arming her to leave with him. Erica arrives on the scene and demands that James leave Madison alone. Annie's trial is in full swing as Zach, Ryan, Erica, Colby, JR and even Annie herself takes the witness stand. Annie refuses to allow Adam to take the stand but he has other ideas. JR realizes that Adam is going to come to Annie's rescue yet again.

Annie fires Liza as her attorney and plans on representing herself as she believes everyone is out to get her. Adam wrestles with whether or not to stand by Annie, realizing it could cost him his family if he does so. JR's certain Adam will choose his family over Annie. Erica tells Jesse that Madison is at the Miranda Center and that her father has been abusing her. James Beardsley, Madison's father, asks Randi to help him track down Madison. Frankie confronts Jesse for not taking action after Madison tells him she passed Jesse a note asking for help. Randi's angered when Frankie jumps to Madison's defense and takes her claims at face value. James insists to Jesse, Frankie and Angie that Madison is delusional. Jesse arrests Frankie after he assaults James at the police station. Randi goes to see Madison at the Miranda Center claiming she wants to help her.

David continues to play on Amanda's emotions, claiming he wants to make amends for all the evil things he's done that ended up hurting people. Amanda finds herself sucked in by David. Annie can't shake the feeling that Adam will turn on her in court. Annie becomes suspicious that Liza won't do her best to vindicate her. Erica learns that the battered woman she took to the Miranda Center after she and Ryan almost ran her down is actually Madison North. Erica realizes that Madison's father is the man who beat her. Frankie's shocked to see Madison at the Miranda Center. A drunk man claims to the police that Erica is guilty of a hit-and-run with Madison.

Liza wishes Colby hadn't interfered when Bailey announces she's decided to stay in town with Stuart after all. Liza points out to Colby how hard it will be for her to run into Stuart but not be able to be a mother to him. Scott admits to Marissa that he has feelings for Annie. JR tells Adam he has cancer. He also tells Adam: Choose JR and Little Adam or Annie - but he's got to lose either one. JR's ultimatum weighs heavily on Adam's mind. JR is confident that Adam will choose his family over Annie. As they're driving home, Ryan and Erica almost run over Madison, whose face has been badly beaten. Tad and Krystal agree they should both get back into the dating game. Krystal meets a cute new architect, Rob.

The jury reaches a verdict at Adam's murder trial: He's not guilty by reason of he was incompetent at the time Stuart was killed (thanks to David's drugging). Adam delivers an emotional statement in the courtroom after his verdict is read - living with the guilt of killing his brother is worse than any prison sentence. JR appears to be on the verge of making peace with Adam but the moment is shattered when Annie calls. JR tells Adam he and Little A won't be a part of his life if Annie stays in the picture. Annie fears that Adam is going to end up throwing her to the wolves at her upcoming trial. Colby can't believe that Liza isn't going to fight for Stuart. Bailey learns her parents won't let her stay with them if she keeps Stuart. Bailey's surprised by Damon's support. Colby tries to convince Bailey to stay in Pine Valley with Stuart so that Liza would still be able to see him. Tad offers Liza a shoulder to lean on. Colby convinces Bailey to stay in Pine Valley with Stuart. Zach warns Ryan he's going to fight to reclaim Cambias. Erica and Ryan realize Zach's out to destroy anything associated with Kendall, including Fusion.

Adam assures Annie everything will work out for both of them as his trial approaches. Scott, Angie, Jesse and Zach all testify at Adam's murder trial. Liza regrets having to go after Zach on the witness stand but has no other choice as she has to provide Adam with the best possible defense she can. Annie hides her discomfort when Ryan points out that Adam may very well turn on her in order to save his own skin. JR and Colby support one another as family. JR still refuses to tell the rest of his family about his cancer. Zach's cold towards Erica when she tells him she saw Kendall but softens slightly when he realizes how pained Erica is over the thought of having lost her daughter.

Aidan leads a bound and gagged Kendall to believe that he murdered Kat in cold blood and would do the same to her if she doesn't cooperate. However, it's all a ruse as Kat isn't really dead. When Erica tracks them down at their hotel, Aidan warns Kendall he'll kill Erica if Kendall doesn't do as he says and pretend to want to stay with him. Fearing for Erica's life, Kendall pushes her away, insisting she's where she wants to be. Once alone, Kendall questions why Aidan is doing this to her. David drugs himself to keep up the ruse that he's dying in front of Jake and Amanda. Amanda overhears Jake callously telling David he hopes he suffers until his dying day. Liza agrees not to stand in Bailey's way when she decides she wants Stuart but later breaks down in Tad's arms. Tad urges her to fight, but Liza says she doesn't want to put Stuart through a custody battle.

JR defends his decision not to tell Marissa that his cancer has returned to Tad. Not wanting Marissa to focus on him, JR goes against the doctor's advice and postpones starting any treatment. Jake steals a vial of the drug David's been taking and gives it to Angie to have analyzed. Angie later tells Jake the drug is exactly what David claims it is, which seemingly verifies David's claim he is sick. Tad isn't convinced that David is really dying. Amanda falls for David's manipulations hook, line and sinker. Jake tells Amanda that with David having an expiration date of six months from now, he's ready to be with her. Damon tries to convince Bailey that he wants to make a family with her and Stuart. Bailey tells Liza she's made a decision about Stuart: she wants to raise him.

Adam and Scott are released on bail at their arraignment. Annie drops a bomb on Liza when she breaks her promise and pleads not guilty (she received a call from Adam advocating her to do so). Annie's confident everything will work out with Adam on her side. A manipulative David convinces Amanda he only has six months to live when she threatens to leave with Trevor. Alone with Trevor, David reveals he's perfectly healthy and is just manipulating Amanda. Jake decides not to leave town after a chance encounter with Bailey, baby Stuart and Joe. Joe tells Jake that he and Ruth are planning on retiring and moving to Florida. JR's worst fear is confirmed: His cancer is returned.

Jake explains to Amanda that it's too painful for him to try and raise David's son. Jake stuns Amanda and Angie when he announces he's quitting his job and leaving Pine Valley. Angie can't convince Jake to change his mind about leaving and giving up on his marriage. Amanda unleashes her pain and anger on David as she makes it clear she'll never love him. David makes it clear to the fertility doctor that she should NOT reveal the DNA results proving David is not the father of baby Trevor. Liza angrily pulls away from Zach's kiss and walks out - she won't be a substitute for Kendall. JR hides the fact that he's been coughing up blood from Marissa. Fearing his cancer might have returned, JR goes to Angie for a blood test. Opal senses that Kendall could be in danger. Zach orders Opal to leave him alone but she refuses to do so. Opal finally manages to talk some sense into Zach, who leaves the casino to go home and be a father to Ian. Liza moves out of her apartment to give Bailey space to make a final decision about Stuart. Liza confesses to Tad how sad she is at the idea of losing Stuart.

Kat spins a story for Zach, claiming she noticed Kendall was falling in love with Aidan before they ran away together. Aidan later meets up with Kat, who starts to worry about the lengths he'd go to in order to keep Kendall with him. A drunken Zach tells Liza he wants a divorce and then impulsively kisses her. After Bailey says she wants to Liza realizes she has to back off Bailey or risk losing Stuart altogether. Liza suggests that she and Colby move out for a while and let Bailey live in the apartment alone with Stuart. Jake races to Amanda's side when Trevor's taken to the hospital with a high fever. David's on the verge of telling Jake and Amanda the truth but changes his mind after Jake unleashes an angry tirade against him. Jake tells Amanda he can't raise David's son. At Adam''s urging, Scott agrees not to leave Pine Valley but does decide to move into the gatehouse. Tad arranges some quality family time as everyone trims the Christmas tree they picked out. JR coughs up blood and fears his cancer has returned.
