Aidan surprises Zach by giving him an alibi for the night Adam was shot at. Alone with Zach, Aidan claims he believes Annie killed Stuart and wants to make her pay. Natalia thinks Annie, not Adam, was the intended victim on the night of the shooting and shares her theory with Adam and Scott. Due to this, Adam forces Jesse to release Annie from jail. Kendall surrenders to Jesse after he informs Zach and Ryan he needs to take her into custody now that the trial is back on. Krystal admits to Tad that she's bothered by the fact he's seeing Taylor but says she's happy for him. Amanda urges Taylor to go for it with Tad. JR's plans to move back home with Little A go out the window when Annie returns to the mansion. Marissa admits to Krystal she likes JR and Scott.

The judge refuses Liza's request to drop the charges against Kendall but does agree to postpone the start of the trial. Erica demands that Kendall drop the idea of confessing to Stuart's murder. Adam can't help but be affected when Annie voices how much she's come to love him. Annie finds an unlikely ally in Jack when he agrees to take on her case. Jack accuses Zach of setting Annie up and warns he won't get away with it. Adam lets Ryan know he's come to believe Annie is being persecuted unfairly. Ryan feels guilty for making Annie pay for Stuart's murder when she didn't do it. Erica insists to Ryan they're doing the right thing protecting Kendall at all costs and points out the other crimes Annie should be punished for. Annie asks Aidan for help in proving Zach framed her. Kendall goes to see Annie, who plays on Kendall's guilty conscience. Brot shows up at Taylor's to tell her about Randi's miscarriage and finds Tad there. Taylor and Tad's talk about finding the right person to be with leads to a kiss.

A guilt ridden Kendall frustrates Zach by continuing to insist she shot Stuart. Ryan confronts Zach with his newfound suspicions after visiting Annie. Kendall tells Ryan she killed Stuart and confirms that Zach set Annie up to take the fall for her. Annie points the finger at Zach when Marissa questions her. Marissa starts to have her doubts about Annie's guilt. Liza tells Marissa that their job is to make sure Kendall goes free and not to try and get Annie off the hook regardless of whether or not she's innocent. JR can't believe that Scott would defend Annie. Annie accuses Jesse of being in cahoots with Zach to crucify her. Jesse quickly shuts Natalia down when she investigates the shooting and points out many discrepancies in the case against Annie. Jake warns Amanda she can't keep running to Taylor's to see Trevor or else David might get suspicious.

Zach sets Annie up to make it look as though she fired a shot at Adam and then slips off into the night unseen. Adam has Annie arrested but Scott thinks she might be telling the truth when she claims someone set her up. Kendall is certain that she was the one who killed Stuart and has been repressing the memory but Erica won't tolerate her thinking like that. Kendall realizes what Zach has done but he claims the ends justify the means as long as the guilty party gets what they deserve. Jesse knows Zach framed Annie to protect Kendall and the two men tacitly agree to keep each other's secrets. JR takes Adam to the hospital after he suffers chest pains. At the hospital, Emma approaches Adam and says they both know Annie didn't kill Stuart. Liza is on the verge of collapsing from exhaustion tending to a colicky baby Stuart. David manages to soothe Stuart after convincing Liza to let him hold the baby.

Annie plays up being hurt when Adam turns down her marriage proposal. Once alone, Annie's display of being hurt turns to one of cunning as she vows that she will become Mrs. Adam Chandler. Ryan and Erica take Emma to the hospital, where she remains unresponsive. Emma makes a surprising move while being questioned by Willis: She writes "Mommy" on the wall. Is Annie really guilty? Zach takes matters into his own hands when Kendall continues to insist she shot Stuart and heads to Adam's. Zach lures Annie to the terrace and then fires his gun into the parlor where Adam is. Kendall tells Erica that she's convinced she killed Stuart and plans to turn herself in. Taylor realizes that she wants a baby of her own while taking care of Trevor. Amanda can't stay away from her son. Tad and Taylor grow closer. Frankie, Angie and Jesse are devastated when Randi loses the baby. Angie knows Jesse is keeping something from her.

Ryan goes off on Zach and Liza for questioning Emma.;Erica voices her belief that Emma needs professional help after she pulls away from Ryan and shuts down completely.Jesse goes to the safe house, unaware that Ryan has already taken Emma to the hospital. Kendall conjures up Stuart's ghost in her mind.Stuart's ghost tells Kendall he's going to help her get to the truth. After remembering more about the night of the murder (like that Emma was there), Kendall goes to Adam and tells him she's sorry. Zach finds Kendall, who says she thinks she killed Stuart. Adam has secretly recorded Kendall's odd visit and gives a copy to Willis. Adam apologizes to Annie for accusing her of having shot Stuart.Adam busts Annie on wanting to marry him. Jesse confronts Madison on torturing Randi.Frankie tries to be strong for Randi, who fears she may be losing the baby. Angie becomes suspicious that Jesse is keeping something from her.

Annie is shocked when she answers a call presumably from Erica and finds Emma on the other end of the line. With Jesse standing in front of her, Annie abruptly ends the call. Ryan takes the phone when Annie calls back and tries to convince her that they can't put Emma through the trauma of testifying at a murder trial. After not being able to get a hold of Ryan, Erica calls Zach to let him know Liza's there questioning Emma. Zach pulls Liza away from Emma but realizes Liza's right when she says someone other than Ryan needs to talk to her. Zach gently starts to question Emma, who seems about to reveal something important just as Ryan barges in on them. Adam accuses Annie of having shot Stuart after having another memory from the attic. Randi panics when she receives a bookend identical to the one she clobbered North with in the mail. Jesse tells Randi that Madison is just playing mind games with her and promises to put an end to it. Jesse rushes Randi to the hospital after she doubles over in pain. Frankie shows Brot the disturbing text message he received questioning the paternity of Randi's baby.

Kendall scares Emma when she confronts her demanding the truth - that Emma say that Annie, not Kendall, shot Stuart. Ryan puts a stop to Kendall's tactics, making it clear he won't have his daughter further traumatized. Kendall fears her time is running out and becomes angry everyone isn't putting more pressure on Emma. Zach is incredulous when Liza suggests they should try to manipulate Emma just as Annie has to create reasonable doubt. Emma swipes Erica's cell phone and hides it in her room. Jesse tells Zach that he'll try to stall Willis, who is hell bent on finding Emma. Tad has his work cut out for him while he distracts Liza to give Jake, Amanda and Taylor the chance to sneak away with baby Trevor without being seen. Taylor promises Amanda she'll take good care of Trevor. The connection between Tad and Taylor grows when he stays to help her with the baby.

Marian lays into Liza, saying she'll have nothing more to do with her if she continues to represent Kendall. Zach and Kendall pledge their love to one another. Kendall goes to Willis' office with Zach and Liza, prepared to accept the plea deal. Willis pulls the rug out from under Kendall when he announces the deal is off the table now that he has Emma as an eyewitness. Willis infuriates Zach when he announces he's going after a murder one conviction. Erica assures Kendall that she and Ryan will handle the Emma problem by getting the little girl out of town. Ryan learns from Emma that Annie visited her, and that Emma told Annie about seeing Kendall shoot Stuart. Ryan and Erica hide Emma at a safe house to prevent Willis from questioning her. Marian slaps Kendall and accuses her of being a killer. Kendall arrives at the safehouse and tells Emma that she must tell the truth - that she saw Annie, not Kendall, shoot Stuart. While helping Scott clean out Stuart's things from the attic, Annie has a flashback of being up there with Adam and Emma on the night of the murder. She remembers Emma saying "I saw everything" and Annie telling Emma to forget what she saw. Adam is unsettled after reading Annie's file, including her journal from Oak Haven that Willis gave him. Jake and Amanda bring baby Trevor home to Tad's with them. Tad is surprised by the turn of events but is glad to see Amanda happy again. Taylor finds out what's going on and volunteers to hide Trevor from David at her place until the time is right for Jake and Amanda to leave town with the baby. Jake, Amanda, and Taylor hide with Trevor when Liza shows up unexpectedly. Marissa and JR grow closer. Marissa tells JR and Scott about Kendall's deal being off the table.

Annie leaves Emma's room before Ryan or Erica discovers her. Emma lies to Ryan, claiming Annie didn't come to her room. Despite Zach, Ryan and Erica's protests, Kendall feels as though she has no choice but to agree to a plea bargain and go to prison for a few years as opposed to risking facing life behind bars or even the death penalty. Zach takes Kendall in his arms to comfort her. Erica urges Kendall to change her mind - while she confessed, she hasn't signed any paperwork. Scott doesn't rat Annie out when he catches her sneaking back into the mansion. Adam is impressed by Annie's shrewdness when she tries to cut a deal with Willis. JR wants nothing more than to get Annie away from Adam. Marissa tells JR and Adam about Kendall confessing. David joins Liza at her table at ConFusion but makes a quick exit after her comment about children hits him hard.

After removing her ankle monitor, Annie heads out to check on Emma. Emma surprises Annie when she says she told Ryan she saw Kendall shoot Stuart. Ryan approaches Emma's room while Annie' still inside. Emma admits to Liza and Ryan that North once tried to question her but she didn't tell him anything. Erica promises Zach she'll convince Ryan to take Emma out of town before she can tell anyone else about her claim against Kendall. Zach is adamantly opposed to the idea of Kendall accepting a plea bargain and turning herself in. Amanda shares an emotional reunion with her baby boy, Trevor. Jake explains to Amanda why they can't take Trevor back to Pine Valley just yet but she's reluctant to be separated from her son again.

Assistant District Attorney Andrew Willis questions Erica, who points the finger at Annie. Emma insists to Ryan that she saw Kendall shoot Stuart. Zach doesn't believe Emma's claim but Ryan thinks his daughter is telling the truth. Zach wants Ryan to get Emma out of town so she can't harm Kendall. Kendall asks Zach if he's starting to have doubts about her innocence. Ryan walks in as Emma's talking to Annie on the phone. Erica confronts Liza after learning she's taken over Kendall's case and accuses her of wanting to get Zach for herself. JR clashes with Annie. Annie maintains her innocence when questioned by Willis and voices her love for Adam, who declares his love for her in return. Jake tells Amanda the truth about her baby, explaining how Liza blackmailed him. Jake reveals to Amanda that Liza only thinks she has Amanda's baby because he switched babies and gave her a different child. Amanda peers in at her son when Jake takes her to the country cottage.

Zach pulls away from his kiss with Kendall, saying they can't fall back into their old patterns. Kendall tells Zach that she loves him but he won't allow himself to say the same in return. Ryan rejects Kendall when she turns to him for comfort. Zach and Liza review North's notes on Stuart's murder and discover that a child was the ace he had up his sleeve. Emma eavesdrops on Ryan and Liza talking about Annie's possible guilt. Emma tells Ryan she knows who shot Stuart - it was Kendall. Jake swears to Amanda that he didn't give her baby to Liza. Marissa convinces David's he's acting irrationally. David vows to give up his obsession over Amanda's baby after getting the results of Stuart's DNA test. Liza doesn't know how Jake was able to pull everything off after David tells her about the DNA test. Amanda overhears Jake talking to Liza about the DNA test. Madison tortures Randi, saying she knows she killed North and questions the paternity of Randi's baby. Jesse confronts Madison, warning her not to try and hurt his family. Madison angrily threatens to destroy all the Hubbards.

Randi feels the weight of recent events (believing she killed North). Zach subtly clues Jesse in to the fact he knows the truth about North's death, believing Randi killed him. Madison lets Jesse know she watched the hotel surveillance tapes and saw Randi entering North's room. Madison knows Jesse covered up North's murder but tells him she destroyed the surveillance tapes, much to his relief. She just wants Jesse's help in getting North's will moved through so she can access his money. Angie suspects Jesse is keeping something from her, and after reading the autopsy reports for North, asks Jesse if he killed the D.A.. Madison introduces herself to Randi, realizing she was the great love of her husband's life. Kendall refuses to let Liza represent her, but eventually agrees. Zach and Kendall's heated argument ends in a kiss. Taylor has an awkward encounter with Brot when she gives him back some of his things. Tad and Taylor try to be optimistic about the future after he forgets their brunch date.

Madison tells Zach that the woman North was having a liaison with killed him and that Jesse is also involved. Madison claims to Zach that she destroyed the surveillance tapes from the hotel. Zach takes the case files Madison offers and later blackmails Liza into representing Kendall. Marissa offers to help David prove his theory that Liza's baby is really his and Amanda's son. David gets a sample of Stuart's DNA Ryan and Aidan wash their hands of Kendall and Annie, respectively. Erica and Ryan think about the fun time they had together. Annie continues to work her wiles on Adam.

Kendall wonders if Zach had any involvement in North's death. Jack removes himself as Kendall's attorney after she inadvertently reveals she was the one driving the car that ran Greenlee off the road. In D.C., Detective Beckett gives Jesse the evidence found in North's room, which happens to be Randi's earring. Jesse assures Randi that no one will ever know she was in North's room because he has her earring and the hotel surveillance tapes went missing. Zach and Jesse suspect that each knows more than they're saying. Madison is seen watching the hotel surveillance tapes. Zach asks Madison point blank if she killed her husband after she offers to give him all the files North compiled to build his case Kendall. David becomes more and more convinced that Liza is passing off his and Amanda's baby as her own. Ryan and Erica enjoy their afternoon together but she ends up soaking wet after a mishap. Kendall arrives at the penthouse to find Erica wearing nothing but Ryan's shirt.

Randi tries to keep her nerves in check in front of Frankie while remembering the events of the night before (i.e. believing she killed North). Frankie's happily surprised when Randi tells him she's pregnant and they later share the news with Angie and Jesse, who pretends to be hearing it for the first time. Randi denies having been in D.C. when Zach questions her. Zach has a strong feeling that North met with foul play. Madison's bewildered when Zach tells her he went to North's hotel room and found no sign of him. News of North's death spreads after his car is found in the bottom of the ravine. David asks Krystal for a second chance, but she says no. Liza doesn't want David anywhere near baby Stuart when he develops a fever. Jake and Amanda are still at the hospital after Amanda's counseling session when Liza comes rushing in with Stuart. David accuses Jake of being overly obsessed with Liza's baby. Liza pulls away when Amanda reaches out to touch Stuart. Ryan tells Erica that he realizes he needs to stay away from Kendall. Erica admires Ryan's strength and appreciates the kind of man he's proven himself to be. Ryan and Erica share a close moment.

Kendall and Ryan spy on Adam from the tunnel as he tells Annie he remembers seeing her shoot Stuart as part of Kendall's plan to get her to confess. Although slightly shaky at first, Annie maintains her innocence and is hurt that Adam doesn't trust her. Adam takes his fury out on Kendall and Ryan, angry at himself for having tested Annie that way. Annie removes her ankle monitor planning to flee but has a change of heart. Adam is relieved to find that Annie didn't run away when he goes to her room to seek her forgiveness for having doubted her. Adam kisses Annie after assuring her that he's in her corner. Madison tells Zach that he and Kendall don't have to worry about North anymore but says nothing more. Jesse knows Randi was acting in self-defense when she believes she was the one who killed North. Randi panics at the thought of being sent to prison, fearing a jury would never believe her. Randi reveals to Jesse that she's pregnant. Jesse takes action to cover up the crime, going so far as pushing North's car over a cliff with his corpse strapped inside. Zach suspects that something's amiss when he arrives at North's hotel room. Marissa inadvertently tells Scott that JR kissed her. Scott puts work aside and takes Marissa to the casino but leaves when JR arrives. After explaining how he feels, JR asks Marissa out on a date.

Annie stops short of choking the life out of Erica. Erica seethes when Adam takes Annie's side over hers. JR tries to convince Adam that Annie probably killed Stuart but he staunchly defends her. Kendall turns to Ryan for help with her plan but hides when Erica arrives. Kendall goes to see Adam, saying she has a plan to prove Annie's guilt. Kendall hides in the tunnel as Adam tells a panicky Annie that he remembers exactly what happened the night Stuart was shot. North becomes violent as he forces himself on Randi, who smashes a bookend into his head to defend herself. Randi runs from the room, leaving North crumpled on the floor. North thinks Madison will help him when she arrives in the room but she has something else in mind - she kills him! Realizing her earring fell off in the room, a shaky Randi returns there and fears she killed North when she finds him dead. Jesse walks in to see Randi kneeling beside North's dead body.

Randi reveals her past with North to Zach. Zach advises Randi to keep her distance from North. Wanting to help Kendall and Jesse, Randi arrives at North's hotel room looking to make a deal: She'll sleep with him if he backs off Kendall. Kendall has terrifying visions of her loved ones being forced to testify against her. Zach and Ryan fear Kendall might do something that will only add to her troubles. Annie isn't completely honest when Adam asks her to tell him everything she remembers about the night of the murder. Annie stops Adam from calling the cops on Aidan after he's caught spying on them. Erica confronts Annie, who reaches her breaking point and starts strangling Erica.

Madison confirms to Zach that North cheats on her and lets him know her husband is planning a weekend getaway. Madison goes on to tell Zach that North once lost the true love of his life. North drops in on Randi, who refuses to give into his threats and go out of town with him. Zach arrives on Randi's doorstep after seeing North leave her apartment. Erica drags Kendall away from Annie. Ryan and Erica realize just how dire things are for Kendall. After taking her side against Kendall, Adam tells Annie he no longer doubts her innocence. Aidan gives Annie his theory of how she killed Stuart when she catches him spying on her. Jesse approaches just as Kendall's asking Tad to lie when he's called to the witness stand at her upcoming trial. Jake makes Amanda feel better when he spins a story about what a great life her son will have, saying he placed him with a loving, young couple. Tad urges Jake to tell Amanda the truth but Jake remains confident that everything will work out.
